Description

While aspirations to excel in such schools are visible among the teachers, principals and students, the constraints to stare at ones face when you visit them, one of them being infrastructure. Often schools operate within 3-4 rooms and conduct all classes for an average of 20-30 students per class within, around and sometimes outside these rooms. Classrooms under sheds or within cramped spaces are common. In such cases, weather plays a bigger role than the government in deciding the holidays. 

All this severely compromises teaching and learning and often relegates it to being a mere exchange of information. The very purpose of these classrooms stands defeated. One of the common phenomena is a single room for multiple classrooms.
