Wait Time: Slowing Down May Be A Way of Speeding Up!

This paper describes major outcomes of a line of
research began nearly 20 years ago by the author
on a variable called wait time. To put it briefly,
when teachers ask questions of students, they typi-
cally wait 1 second or less for the students to start a reply;
after the student stops speaking they begin their reaction.
