Is it ok to scare the 8 to 10 year old students that if they do not maintain hygiene they may catch dreadful diseases

A sense of realization of their responsibility in breaking the chain of infection is more important. They should not be scared as this will affect the psychological development of the child.

No , it is not ok to scare 8 to 10 year old students . We should tell them about the diseases friendly and try to protect them.

Yes, it is actually not scaring but making them aware about the consequences. They should actually be made aware so that they can start taking informed decision at young age and champion safe WASH practices. We should actually need to catch them young to ensure not only Behaviour change but also nurture them as change agents
