It was established on 30th September, 1932. Harijan Sevak Sangh was founded by Mahatma Gandhiji, our father of the nation, as a result of the historic Poona Pact between him and Baba Saheb B.R. Ambedkar in 1932, to develop a conducive environment for the upliftment of the oppressed classes or “Harijans” as he called them. Schools and Residential Schools were established all over the India. The purpose of creating residential schools was to bring the children of oppressed communities out of their surroundings to provide them with a good environment, culture as well as education. These strategies helped the children to get an education.
