Due to which process dry raisins when kept in water swell up?

When dry raisins are placed in water, they swell up. It happens because the water from the surrounding diffuses into the raisins resulting into swelling of them. ... If these raisins are placed in a concentrated salt solution, they will shrink due to osmosis.
