Which method is used to separate iodine and chalk powder?

Firstly use a magnet, it will separate the iron fillings. Then add water, iodine and sodium chloride will mix in it but the chalk powder will be floating. To separate sodium chloride and iodine the best way is to slightly heat the mixture.
