What is the difference between rabi and kharif crops with examples?

The Kharif crops are dependent on the rainfall whereas the Rabi Crops do not depend on the rainfall. The Rabi Crops need to get irrigated frequently whereas the Kharif crops do not need irrigation as they are already sown during the monsoon season. Rabi crops are sown in winter from October to December and harvested in summer from April to June. Eg: wheat, barley, peas, gram and mustard. Kharif crops are grown with the onset of monsoon in different parts of the country and these are harvested in September-October.
