It depends to the situation you are referring too.

While making a masterpiece of art one has to work hard in order to bring the ideas on the canvas with the desired effect and detailing using multiple sets of brushes and colours.

But while painting a zebra crossing or a divider on roads smart work is needed with a thick flat brush not the detailing using best of the thin brushes wasting time and efforts.
