Stories of Indian Classrooms

A Student Story inspired from his Principal

Yashraj Abhiraje More is a class 8th student of Solapur district of Maharashtra. His most preferred ways of learning are through watching conceptual videos. He regularly visits Gurushala’s content library to explore Science project videos where students perform experiments using cells, switches etc.

Let’s get to know Yashraj and his learning methods a little more!

What is your favorite subject and what do you like the most about that subject?
Hindi is my favourite subject because I have always had a liking for the Hindi language. In addition, my Hindi teacher is an excellent teacher. So, I like Hindi very much.

What is the one thing you like the most about your favorite teachers?
Our Principal sir is my favourite teacher. He was a major follower of rules and regulations. If a student does not wear a uniform, he will make them realise the importance of wearing a uniform. When the results arrive, he informs our parents first and then he educates us very humbly. He constantly says, 'When you study, study to the fullest, and when you play, play to the fullest.' Sometimes while teaching, he just tells us, "Let's not study today, let's enjoy or play today," and he also plays with us. So I like him because he scolds us when required but also loves us strongly.

What do you wish to become when you grow up?
I want to work in the field of electricity. My father works for the government. He works for the Baroda Electricity Board. But I want to create my own company that manufactures electrical components. I want to create it on my own.

I also want to develop our farm; we are installing solar panels this year and I would like to build one wind mill so that we can perform irrigation in wet and windy weather.

How has Gurushala helped you in your journey as a student?
One day on our school's WhatsApp group, I received a message from Gurushala and our teachers also advised us to log in to the Gurushala website. Gurushala's videos have been really beneficial to me. I can also comprehend concepts taught in school. In Gurushala videos, however, we have the option to pause the video if we are unable to understand it. We may watch these videos as many times as we want. I have participated in a few activities organised by Gurushala such as a quiz competition on General knowledge and our environment.
