Creativity: Key to success

“Challenges are what makes life interesting but overcoming them makes life meaningful” this quote beautifully justifies the significance; life skills play in developing an individual personality. What is a life skill? It’s just the basic skills that play a greater role in shaping the future and characteristics of a person. It can be anything, be it a good communication skill, better cognitive skills, or a set of emotional skills.

Considering today’s situation, the life skill which can change the way we see our future is that of the skills of good creativity. The essence of creativity lies in its freshness, its freedom, its newness.

For instance; a large section of society is now on social media. Every second person in a household uses social media, some use it to pass their time while some use it by making content. It’s a tough job to create content which majority of the audience likes, and the competition is way higher, if you’re not creative enough, you wouldn’t be able to make it to the top. Cracking the code of social media is not everyone’s cup of tea. You need to be extremely talented and skillful to survive till the end.  Social media is a skill that requires all other life skills, you need to be good at communication in order to interact with your audience, mentally strong to ignore the negativity, and emotionally strong to take up harsh criticism.

As Albert Einstein said; “Problems cannot be solved using the same thinking that created them.” Playing with imagination and possibilities leads to a solution to any problem. One can use creativity in generating multiple solutions to a problem.

The creative process in problem-solving:

1.) Preparation: Identifying problem and researching for related information

2.) Think out of the box: Going beyond your comfort zone

3.) Incubation: Generating ideas to find a solution

4.) Illumination: Using knowledge of practical ideas that can be put to work

5.) Ideation: Generating alternatives

6.) Verification: Determining whether the solution has the potential to work

7.) Critical thinking: Examining the liability of an idea

Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, making mistakes, and having fun.

Creativity is possible in every area of human life you just name it. Being different is the key to success in any field. If you want to stand out from the group; if you need change; if you want to invent something you need to be creative. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same pattern.

Another quote by Albert Einstein I believe is very important to understand by seeing today’s education system; “Imagination is more important than knowledge, knowledge is limited, imagination encircles the world.” It is important for a student to be creative as it allows them to explore and learn new things from each other and their surroundings. Creativity allows you to see a bigger picture of everything, helps you with problem-solving, allows you to express your opinions and emotions, it gives you a sense of purpose, boosts confidence, relieves stress, and many more benefits.

Creativity is not magic it’s just about approaching things from a different perspective.
