Tell us about yourself

I am M. Kranthi Kumari and I am a teacher at Mandal Parishad Primary School at Mulugu Village of Siddipet District in Telangana. I have a teaching experience of 2 decades.  In my class, I love innovating and designing learner friendly activities, joyful methods and innovative pedagogical strategies. These are my hobbies and teaching English is my passion.

What is your most preferred way of teaching?

In my class, I used audio-visual tools such as videos and images to teach. Moreover, I also assign group activities to students to induce more peer learning among them. Furthermore, teaching through Games and Integrating Art in Teaching – Learning process are some more methods which I implement in the classroom regularly.

What motivated you to become a teacher?

I was motivated to become a teacher through my own teachers who had taught me back in the day when I was a student.

What are some of the challenges that you have faced recently and how did you overcome it?

During the pandemic, schools were closed which made teaching and learning challenging. In those times I made efforts to learn the intricacies of the technology that goes into teaching students online. I realized the challenges faced by rural students such as parents not being educated and hence it was difficult to keep students regularly involved in studies. Moreover, some of the students did not have access to devices to be able to study properly. However, even under these adverse conditions I successfully conducted classes, interacted with students on WhatsApp and helped them participate in various competitions online.

How were you introduced to Gurushala and how has it helped you?

I have been associated with Gurushala since June 2020. Gurushala has been extremely helpful for me in order to understand student behaviour and make interventions which create a more positive learning environment. I have been heavily influenced by sessions on Art Integrated and Activity Based Learning and I have also attended sessions on NEP and Mental well-being, and other orientation sessions. Moreover, Gurushala Kits have reached my school and have been very well received by the students and motivated students to participate in activities.

How do you wish to bring change in the society?

I believe the best way of bringing change in the society is through building ideal citizens of the country. Children must be imbibed with empathy and compassion for their peers and collectively the society. When individuals are able to develop an empathetic attitude towards the society, understands its nuanced issues, a change is inevitable to come.
