Stories of Indian Classrooms

Little Steps Towards Bigger Dreams

Apeksha is a grade 9th student from Sangli, Maharashtra. She is a student of Laxmibai Bhaurao Patil Kanya Vidyalaya, Ramanandnagar and her favourite subject is English.

Tell us about yourself

I live with my parents and an elder brother. My favourite hobbies are reading and dancing. I love to study English because I find it easy and I like my English teacher a lot. She is nice and helpful to all the students. I also like going to school and have 5 to 6 really good friends. I like going to school because everyone is so nice to me there, specially my teachers. After completing my education, I want to take an attempt for Maharashtra Public Service Commission and work for the welfare of people in my state.

What is your most preferred way of learning?

I like to read through books. It is fun to flip through pages and write things down. I enjoy that part about learning through books. I also like when our teachers use images and videos to teach us. We have been given group projects which I also enjoyed a lot.

What is your favourite subject and what do you like the most about it?

English is my favorite subject because I find it very easy. Plus, I see so many things being written in English and it has also been spoken so much. I believe it must be important to learn this language. 'The necklace' is my favourite lesson from my English textbook. My English teacher is also very sweet and kind. Her style of teaching fascinates me. I also get delighted when I score well in my favourite subject though I tend to score the highest in Marathi

How were you introduced to Gurushala?

Our teacher told us about Gurushala. I found it interesting when she described it to us. Soon, I came across their lecture videos which have been helpful to me. I use Gurushala on my smartphone.

What is your favourite section of Gurushala?

I like watching educational videos created by Gurushala. They are exciting to watch. Apart from this, I also like the question booklet which is provided by Gurushala. I try to mark everything right in that question booklet.

What is your best memory so far?

One time we visited a nearby temple and it has been my favourite memory. We also spent time in a park near that temple. We had 'prasad' and also played a few games. It was a very fun day and everyone enjoyed that small trip. It was new and fascinating to us. To visit that place and have so much freedom has been a great memory for me.

In what activities of Gurushala have you participated?

I took the GNAT test conducted by Gurushala and have watched their videos. GNAT was a little tough but it was new and interesting. It was nice to try my hands on something new. I have also filled question booklets provided by Gurushala.

How has Gurushala helped you in your journey as a student?

I really like Gurushala's test. They are new and I find new things interesting. Gurushala has also made my learning more convenient. Many complicated concepts have been simplified by Gurushala for me. This makes it easy for me to learn things which are difficult otherwise. The lessons provided by Gurushala are also wonderful.

What is one thing that you like the most about your favourite teacher?

My favourite teacher talks to me very nicely and in a kind manner. She is very soft spoken and also teaches us well. I don't feel scared while marking the wrong answer because she always guides us if we mark anything wrong. That's very considerate of her, I believe. She also talks to us about things outside the classroom and I really love her tricks and techniques which she uses to teach us.
